Lindell's : Lindell’s is located in Lake Linden, Michigan. It is an ice cream parlor and bar; one of the last businesses of its kind in the state of Michigan. When I was a child, my father would often bring me to this establishment for lunch. Lindell’s became a staple of my youth. When I return now, I can see the childhood memories reflected in all the glass and mirrors that protect the exterior and encircle the interior. Stepping into the diner, I can hear the blissful laughter of the afternoon patrons echoing off the walls. The warmth of the wood still welcomes me, by nurturing my memories. I can almost feel my father walking behind me as I step towards a booth, he and I laughing, and I’m ready to order my favorite a chocolate shake. I return to this diner for more then just remembrance. I am reflecting on the changes Lindell’s and I have endured. We are both aging together, effected by the elements and the economy but when I am within these walls time stands still. Lessons have been learned, from successes and failures. Through all the trials and tribulations, we endure, never at a complete loss, with hope in hand. For Lindell’s and I the future is uncertain.
